In addition to providing quality accommodation within the National
Park of Snowdonia, Abercelyn
Guest House and Cottages are situated in a peaceful
location, just a short stroll from the Lake Bala and close to the market-town of Bala, which
provides a choice of pubs, restaurants and shops, where
local and home-made
produce are available. A short walk from Abercelyn along a mountain
stream you will find traditional, mixed woods with, at the
appropriate time of the year, a carpet of bluebells. The area is known as the
"Welsh Lake District",
where the combination of lakes and mountains provide memorable
scenery. As well as Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid) nearby are Lake Vyrnwy
(Llyn Efyrnwy),
Llyn Brenig, Llyn Alwen and Llyn Celyn. The local hills provide un-crowded walking in three
mountain ranges (Aran, Arenig, Berwyn) with Cader Idris and the
Rhinogs a short drive away. This part of
Snowdonia
offers many possibilities for
outdoor activities including whitewater rafting at the nearby
National Whitewater Centre (Canolfan Tryweryn) canoeing and sailing
on Lake Bala, mountain biking at several centres, including the
internationally known Coed y Brenin.
Other activities available
include go-karting, quad-trekking, high ropes, paint-ball and more.
Other parts of the Snowdonia National Park are easily reached by car
including Snowdon, the many beaches, castles, railways, mines and
and other tourist attractions.
