Bala Challenge - Previous Walks The 6th Bala Challenge (20, 14, 8 miles) was held on 10 May 2010 with 270 participating. There was around £3,000 raised for North Wales Air Ambulance, Heart Research UK, the Mountain Rescue Service, the Bala Lake Railway and local charities. The Rotary Club of Bala & Penllyn are grateful for the support and assistance of participants, sponsors and supporting organisations. Special thanks to the the main sponsors of the event: Ifor Williams Trailers, John Lewis Partnership & Energy Solutions for sponsorship of the 2009 event. The 5th Bala Challenge (20, 14, 8 miles) was held on 9 May 2009 with 235 walkers participating. There was around £2,000 raised for North Wales Air Ambulance Service, Mountain Rescue Service the Bala Lake Railway and local charities. The Rotary Club of Bala & Penllyn are grateful for the support and assistance of participants, sponsors and supporting organisations. The 4th Bala Challenge (20, 14, 8 miles) was held on 10 May 2008 with splendid weather and 190 walkers participating. There was around £1500 raised for the National Eisteddfod Wales (2009, Bala), Mountain Rescue Service the Bala Lake Railway and local charities. The 3rd Bala Challenge (14, 7 miles) was held on 12 May 2007 and despite the weather 100 walkers participated with around £800 raised with donations made to Cancer Research, MacMillan Nurses Penllyn and Gwynedd Hospice at Home. The 2nd Bala Challenge (14, 7 miles) took place on 7 May 2006 and with 90 walkers taking part and £800 raised, with donations made to North Wales Air Ambulance, St Johns, the Mountain Rescue Service and local charities - thanks to walkers, helpers & sponsors. The 1st Bala Challenge (14, 7 miles) took place on 21 May 2005, and was very successful with 80 walkers taking part and £900 raised, with donations made to the Tsunami appeal, North Wales Air Ambulance, St Johns, and local charities - thanks to walkers, helpers & sponsors The Rotary Club of Bala & Penllyn are grateful for the support and assistance of:
