An aerial view of Abercelyn

Abercelyn is set in landscaped gardens and is sheltered both by the mature trees and by its position within a small valley which opens into Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid).

In the bottom left corner is the churchyard for Llanycil church (Abercelyn was formerly the rectory). The Bala to Dolgellau (A494) road is situated between the churchyard and Abercelyn. Next to the road (bottom-middle) is a disused barn and above it (and to the left) is Abercelyn cottage with Abercelyn Country House in the centre. The mountain stream which forms a boundary to the gardens runs from top-middle to left-middle above the house with its path hidden by trees and bushes.

View of Abercelyn from across Lake Bala

Abercelyn is situated centrally, among the trees, and close to the Lake. Above Abercelyn is farmland and then open moor-land, the highest point is Moel-y-Garnedd (360m). The Arenig mountain range (854m) can also be seen.
